Icecube Of Aurora is a local adventure company which offers arctic sea excursions in Alta Fjord. We offer the opportunity to experience local bird life, unique sea nature and history from the Second World War where Europe’s largest battleship the Tirpitz laid allure. Our goal is to provide great adventures for small groups and showcase the Alta Fjord in the best way possible, leaving you with an everlasting memory.
Important!
Very few whales have been observed in Alta Fjord, we therefore have decided to stop offering whale watching tour, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Join us for an exciting fishing tour and fish popular species such as cod, coalfish, haddock, redfish, atlantic halibut, and even to name a few. If requested, we can also filet and pack the fish to eat under your stay in Alta.
For this tour, leave your fishing gear behind and explore the beautiful Alta Fjord. Our excursion includes birdwatching and other wildlife while we explore our fascinating Fjord – perhaps even spot a dolphin or a whale on the longest tours along the way. We will also tell tales about some of our colorful local history, as well as share stories about the historic mining industry in the district and about World War II.
Come join us for an evening cruise out on the dramatic and breathtaking Alta Fjord. We will cruise out into the sparkling water under vast skies, surrounded by low mountains dotted with tiny towns and occasional houses along the Fjord, and leave Alta behind us for a short period. As evening descends, the sunset will light the sky on fire - arctic sunsets are truly majestic. A cloudy night? Look for the sunset to shine dramatic beams down through the clouds onto the grey and challenging water.
The tour goes to the crab field in Alta Fjord. The red king crab is captured in a box-shaped trap called a pot which is then pulled out of the sea and into the boat. You can observe the captain while he works, as he has done many times before. When the king crab is onboard you can hold it carefully and take pictures with it (that will make for a nice postcard).
